IT was history in the making for local producer of phosphate and phosphoric acid, Foskor, when the company recorded its biggest ever tonnage loaded on a single vessel in three decades.
Approximately 37 011 metric tonnes of phosphoric acid solution was loaded onboard the vessel 'Bow Sirius' at the Port of Richards Bay on Wednesday.
The 2006-built Norwegian-flag chemical tanker arrived in Richards Bay on Monday and began loading immediately at an average rate of 860 metric tonnes per hour.
Departing late on Wednesday afternoon, the huge acid consignment is now bound for Coromandel Fertilizers Limited in India.
The vessel is owned by Odfjell Tankers of Bergen Norway, which is marketed locally by Odfjell Makana SA.
Foskor exports in excess of 1-million tonnes of phosphoric solution per annum to various destinations around the globe.
