THE Zululand Big 5 Mountain Bike Series drew to an end on Sunday with Sean Merridew the winner in the men's Classic 55km and Heidi Dalton winning the women's.
The five events that made up the series are the Mtunzini Super Classic, Hluhluwe, Heatonville, eShowe and the RBM Kwambo Classics.
The first event takes place end of May and thereafter there is one event every month.
The dates for next year's events have been booked and mountain bikers can look forward to another series that will expose them to the different riding habitats that makes each event unique.
There will be some changes as eShowe will no longer form part of the Series and the gap will be filled by an event in Monzi.
Hopefully sponsorship for next year's series will ensure that entry fees will be either reduced or kept the same in order to make it affordable for families to participate in this great sport. Emphasis will be placed on developing and training riders for different environments to increase their self-confidence and general fitness.
