THE bodyguards of uMhlathuze Mayor, Cllr Zakhele Mnqayi became heroes on Monday when they managed to catch thieves with stolen goods.
'The three of us were in the cars when two guys came running past with some stuff.
'They looked suspicious and our first thought was that they were carrying stolen goods.
'We decided to make a u-turn and follow these people and luckily we succeeded in catching them,' said bodyguard Mbuso Msimang.
Their action was a great relief for the victim of the theft.
Alison Pienaar, who works at the company where the theft took place, said the criminals managed to get into an unlocked section of the building and made off with laptop computers.

On their way out one of the workers saw them and when she went in the office she found that two laptops and the charger were missing and she started chasing them with a car.
While on the road, the bodyguards took over and made the arrest, handing over the criminals into police custody.
